Native to a wide range stretching from southern China and Thailand through Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, the Brown-throated Sunbird thrives in mangroves, lowland forests, and cultivated gardens. It feeds primarily on nectar, its slender curved bill perfectly adapted to probing flowers, though it will also take insects and spiders to supplement its diet.
Sunbirds are often compared to hummingbirds for their iridescence and flower-loving habits, and like them, they play a vital role as pollinators. Their quick movements, dazzling colours, and constant presence among blossoms make them a delight to watch in their natural habitat.
